Mares For Sale

The Snaffle Bit Ranch offers ranch horses that are versatile, athletic, and that have seen a lot of different kinds of country--from desert plateaus to mountain pastures to rocky ridges.   We often use mares to do the work on the ranch because they have tons of endurance and more life in everything they do.  They are fun to ride and we can turn them into broodmares if they are ever injured.  You can't do that with a gelding!

"Chap Stick," AQHA pending, was born on May 14th, 2010, and has Hollywood N Dun It, Reminic, Bueno Chexinic on her papers, and also goes back to The Investor.  AQHA# Pending.  This filly is a Perlino, which is a bay horse that recieved one copy of the creme gene from both of its parents, and has pink skin, blue eyes, a cream to white colored coat and a darker mane and tail (often orange or red tinted).  Additionally, this filly carries the dun gene which she will pass on to her progeny.  When a perlino is bred to a bay, sorrel, or black stud, the color result will be a buckskin, smoky black or palomino EVERY time!  The AQHA accepts perlinos (and cremellos) for registration as of 2002.  According to AQHA registration results for the years following their decision to accept perlinos for registration, there are 4 cremellos born for every 1 perlino.  The reason that they now accept perlinos and cremellos for registration, is the myths surrounding the physical wellbeing of these horse have been debunked by DNA research and real science.  Perlinos like this one, out of great lines, will be a great asset to any breeding program because she will carry on her great lineage and the added benefit of having control over the color of your offspring!  For Sale by Private Treaty!

"Jetta Pale Rider" is a 2006 buckskin mare AQHA #5148396, that we started last spring and then sent to mountain pastures.  She has a great bi-colored mane and tail and that golden buckskin color.  We finally got her off the mountain and were pleasantly surprised that she was easy to saddle and we saw great potential when we put her on a cow!!! She would eat a cow if you let her!!!  A special thanks to everyone who came together to get this great mare registered!  Pale Rider can really walk out and cover ground easily.  She enjoys getting out and seeing some country.  She has been used this spring to gather pastures and sort pairs. CoriAnn has started to ride her and she feels really smooth.  She is gentle and still has improvements to be made, but we are hoping to see her become a rope horse.  She has speed and cow bred in her that will make her shine in the arena. --For Sale by Private Treaty--

"Mattie's Last Smoke" is a 2007 mare AQHA #5014458.  Mattie is out of Smart Bo Jangles, a Smart Little Lena type stud, and a Mr Gunsmoke type mare.  She is a beautiful dun mare with a great bicolored mane and tail.  She spent the fall and better part of winter on the mountain. She came home with her feet in excellent condition and is a nice traveler.  She is light on her feet, gentle, and fun to ride!  Mattie is very athletic as she doesn't have many rides and is advancing quickly.  She is starting to turn around and is being prepared to change leads.  She already knows how to side-pass, get gates and moves freely in her front quarters.  She has been used to tag and doctor calves for the Campbell ranch.  Mattie is going to be one of our best mares.  --For Sale by Private Treaty--

"Hollywoods Investor" was born 11:10pm May 12, 2009.  Beauty, is out of Chex N Dun it and NP Docs Investment.  She has Hollywood N Dun It, Reminic, Bueno Chexinic on her papers, and also goes back to The Investor.  She is a flashy grulla with one white left hind and a star. She has great conformation.  She loves to run around, buck and play.  She halters, leads, and trims.  She is a fast learner and very athletic.  Beauty is going to be our futurity prospect and we are looking forward to great things from her.  --For Sale by Private Treaty--

"NP Docs Investment" is a dunskin (line back buckskin) 2005 mare AQHA #4655713 that goes back to Zippo Pat Bars, Poco Bueno on the top & bottom.  We call her "Buckskin Lady".  She was kicked in the hock as a weanling and given to us for a brood mare.  She likes people and always comes up for attention and treats.  Even though she is lame, I have seen her jump a gate, stop on a dime, change leads and take off with the herd.  She is bred back to Chex N Dun It out of Torrington, WY for another colt, though we are hoping for a stud colt this year. This should be a flashy, athletic,  well built, and well dispositioned colt.  We have great hopes for this foal as well!

Crumble is CoriAnn's first horse. Crumble was started at 5 by Justin. After 3 rides, Crumble and CoriAnn took riding lessons together in Justin's classes.  Look how far we have come in 5 years!!! Crumble is the horse that everyone rides who hasn't ridden before.  She performs to the level of her rider.  She is a great horse that is gentle but can do anything and is willing to get the job done.  CoriAnn often rides her when we are gathering cows because she is easy to ride and can really walk out.  She can get gates, change leads, work cows, rope cows, side-pass, half-pass, stop, and turn around.  She is gentle enough for the tots but is hard working for the ranch.
